As a contractor, you don't get a 401k or insurance. However, they do give you bonuses and offer you gift certificates for things like restaurants and clothing stores.
As an independent contractor there are no benefits. I knew that but I'm not sure that everyone else would know the ins and outs of being an independent contractor and there is no guidance or information provided by the company about how to handle an independent contractor status. Being an independent contractor a person should be able to take reasonable time off and not be paid for it. In my experience, I was treated poorly when I asked for time off even for a funeral.
