PTO accrues fairly slowly if you are a newcomer, but you are able to accrue more the longer you work at the City.
Can only use it when available and have to submit a year in advance
You gain 10 PTO hours a month!
PTO is not a good system. An employee in their first 5 years gets 10 hours a month of PTO. Under the old system that many are grandfathered into, the same employee would have gotten 8 hours of vacation AND 8 hours of sick leave. They say that this is compensated for by short term disability insurance. I don't see it as a good deal in general.
It's all lumped as "personal time off".
