VIU provides Paid Time Off (PTO) as one of the many ways in which we show our appreciation to our employees. PTO may be taken as vacation time to allow you to reset and relax, as extra time around the holidays to spend time with friends and family, or as time to pursue special interests. PTO may also be used for personal or family illness, medical appointments, or other matters that can only be scheduled during business hours.
Only full-time regular employees who have passed their probationary period are eligible to use PTO. PTO hours begin accruing immediately and are carried over from year to year, with a maximum of 240 hours carried over each year.
The amount of earned PTO varies between 15 and 21 days, based on the employee's length of service.
In addition to regular PTO hours, all full-time employees receive 8 hours of leave for their birthday each year as well as 8 hour of Voluntary Time Off to use toward pursuing volunteer activities.
The vacations time is awesome you have two week as new employee and winter break during holidays, the vacation time increases every couple yesrs
15 paid days off per year for new employees (sick days are included) however it's hard to get approval. Paid 12 holidays per year.
VIU has a very generous leave policy.
