    Run through a Japanese company, Nippon Life, with strange coverage.

    Even after asking the office if we had suggestions for different companies/plans/insurers (which we did), they stuck with the incredibly niche and hard to use Japanese based insurance. Hard to use, hard to process, easy for doctors to mess up.

    They pay 100% (no co-pay), but only 50% for a spouse. Most companies have a small co-pay, but the spouse and children are 100% covered. You don't get healthcare or other benefits until after a 90 day probation, which is uncommon in the Bay Area. Also, the plan is with a strange carrier, Nippon Life Benefits, who I had never heard of. I opted to go with my wife's health plan instead.
