Paternity and Maternity leave is about 3 months. Stipulations apply, you must be at the company for a certain amount of time.

I'm very happy for my colleagues who have taken this leave, and I feel that our teams have respected and supported them.

I am sure that athenahealth provides the Maternity & Paternity Leave benefits; but I do not remember the details of the Maternity & Paternity Leave benefits.

athena has vastly improved their maternity / paternity leave over the years, but they could do more to be leaders in this area. They could also do more to help transition new parents back to work.

paternity leave is great, but adoption leave is ridiculous and parents only get the paternity leave amount, not the full 3 months maternity leave. if companies really take the time to see how much time it takes to adopt (flying to hospital location/staying for two weeks waiting period/coming back and buying everything/setting up for a baby and then actually taking care of the baby), they'd see a greater need for full maternity leave.

As people have said before, fathers get 1 month full paid. What hasn't been appropriately discussed is for mothers. The "Standard" (as far as I know) for mothers is that they get short term disability. This usually means 6 weeks at 60% - 70% of your base salary. Athena will supplement 6 weeks of short term disability as well as give an extra 4 weeks of paid time off giving a total of 10 weeks full paid time off. I would not mark this as "Standard". I should also note that as of Sept 1, 2015 the 4 weeks with be increased to 6 weeks meaning 12 total weeks have maternity and 6 total weeks for paternity.
