Great benefits except the healthcare deductible is $1,000 which is high for me.

The WORST thing about my benefits package is, I don't think there is one. If I had to pick something it's probably the 1k deductible on my insurance package. I feel like this is the standard in the industry though. Really, nothing to complain about

This company really cares for their people. Great health insurance packets to chose from, 401K with a match, discounts for cell phone, and much more.

One benefit that I really liked was the Paternity Leave, which is one month company paid. On top of that, at least in California, you can also use the Paid Family Leave, but for that you have to do the paperwork with the state and the employeer. I used the one month paid by athenahealth only, and that was good enough to let dad help mom for a little bit. Other benefits like 401k, PTO, etc are in line with other companies.

Flexible hours provided you get your work done; good 401k fund options; tuition reimbursement for some MBA programs, provided you commit to working at athena for longer and have worked there for a certain number of years. Good base vacation time, with additional days acquired for working software releases on weekends. Sabbatical after 8 years. Developers get cash and equity bonus.

The health insurance is pretty bad considering this is a healthcare company

Best = Company culture, mission, and vision along with the employees, roughly 70% to 80% of the employee base are incredibly hard working, bright, and talented people who truly want to fix healthcare Worst = 20% of the employees are there just to be there and don't care about the company or culture, they just like being able to have a flexible working schedule and work from 8:30 to 4:30pm - go stand outside the office at those times and you will 20% of the employee base arriving late and leaving early because they are want to be a part of something great without giving the effort

The healthcare coverage is industry average but total compensation package is fairly robust based on the position/department. Equity, ESPP, 401k match, HSA are offered and pretty nice.
