What does an Account Analyst do?

Account analysts help businesses and companies remain profitable by ensuring accurate financial assessments. They accurately prepare and book clients’ monthly journal entries, including prepaid, accruals and investments and diligently prepare various balance sheet account reconciliations and conduct meticulous reviews of account reconciliations submitted by various departments to ensure they are accurate by correcting any detected errors or omissions. They turn to their knowledge and use of generally accepted accounting principles to review and interpret financial data.

Account analysts obtain the necessary detailed account transactions and investigate and correct reconciling items. They manage the accounting for clients’ fixed assets, including calculating and applying depreciation and ensuring the schedule’s accuracy while reconciling the fixed assets in progress accounts. They prepare bank account entries that are accurate and up to date, and methodically review accounts payable entries to ensure reporting accuracy. Account analysts need a bachelor’s degree in business or accounting.

What responsibilities are common for Account Analyst jobs?
  • Maintain merchandise flow, filling and presentation standards throughout the store and stockroom.
  • Provide customer feedback to define what is 'real' value for customers.
  • Provide guidance on escalations and to encourage cross functional communication across the organization when problem solving and solutioning for sales, customers and third parties.
  • Report on key performance metrics and set deliverables to management on a daily, weekly, monthly basis.
  • Manage, monitor all day-to-day workflow activities for the team.
  • Create, maintain and deliver all reporting for day to day metrics and ensure deliverables are inline per policy.
  • Provide feedback, leadership to team members. continually review process, workflow tasks, in order to recommend efficiencies and improvements to management.
  • Process all maintenance transactions (add/delete/assignments) for all customer segments.
  • Prioritize and delegate tasks to meet all operational needs.
  • Support and execute visual directives and maintain visual standards set by the company.
  • Handle customer situations in compliance with policy and procedures, attempts to solve for yes and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Support associate engagement by recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance.
What are the typical qualifications for Account Analyst jobs?

  • Prior experience as a consultant.
