What does an Admissions Manager do?
Admissions officers evaluate applications from prospective students interested in attending a college, university, or other educational institution. They handle the intake, processing, evaluation, and determinations of submitted applications. They verify the accuracy of information and confirm that application packages are complete and contain all required elements. At some schools, they have direct interaction with prospective students and advise them about admissions and applications processes and procedures. They may also participate in recruitment and marketing initiatives and programs. They ensure adherence to all regulations and department policies.
Admissions officers typically have a bachelor’s degree and a background in a higher education or business field. Experience with admissions or enrollment services is preferred. They must have an in-depth understanding of the admissions and enrollment process. Good communication skills are required.
- Process all incoming documents for international admissions and current students.
- Provide weekly individual and team on-campus training/coaching within the department.
- Conduct staff, committee, and individual meetings regularly as needed.
- Develop and maintain new relationships to result in referrals.
- Create processes and tools for mobile use of GIS for data collection and consumption.
- Participate in visit programs, yield events and other special events.
- Collect and utilize data to measure impact and engagement recruitment strategies.
- Meet weekly and monthly admissions goals according to target.
- Provide solutions to increase census and improve/enhance resident profile.
- Attend networking events to promotes greater awareness of programs.
- Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in business, business communications or business administration or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Google Drive, E-Mail, and LMS software and systems.
- A professional and problem solver at all times with a good sense of humor.
- Comfortable decision making and handling objection with confidence.
- Prior consulting experience.
- Demonstrated product knowledge and positive attitude.
- Is adaptable and able to prioritize tasks as they arise.
- Fluent in statistics, scripting, and spreadsheets.
- Demonstrated time management skills and computer literacy.
