What does an Assistant Director, Valet do?
A valet is a position located in many full-service hotels and other high-end establishments. A valet greets guests upon their arrival and provides customer service by parking and retrieving their vehicle. Many employees who hold the job title of valet began in customer-focused roles such as front desk clerks or restaurant waiters. Additionally, a valet ensures the parking area is clean and safe. They welcome questions from guests and recommend local places to visit and top attractions.
A valet is considered an entry-level position. However, a valid driver license and spotless driving record are required. Accountability and personal integrity are important as a valet, due to the availability of customer's private and sensitive information. Interpersonal skills and attention to detail are common attributes held by valets who complete the role exceptionally.
- Greet and welcome guest to the establishment and offer professional valet services
- Accommodate guests by opening doors and assisting with luggage or other heavy items
- Direct traffic in the parking area as needed and assist guests in entering and leaving the parking lot
- Answer guests' questions regarding local attractions, hotel amenities and other available services
- Collect and accurately label keys belonging to guests to ensure their proper return
- Park guests' vehicles in predetermined areas within the parking lot, following all traffic laws
- Operate vehicles safely and responsibility
- Organize and file paperwork regarding guests' vehicles and daily transactions
- Proven safe driver and clean driving records is essential
- Valid personal car insurance is required
- Ability to communicate professionally
- Customer service experience and friendly demeanor
- Ability to work in a standing position for hours at a time

- Ability to multitask and tend to several customers at once
