What does a Business Development Coordinator do?
Business development coordinators identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities by generating leads in sales, maintaining client relationships, and coordinating promotional activities. They create and implement sales strategies, identify new markets to tap into, and conduct market research that identifies new business development opportunities. They establish and maintain effective relationships with customers through email, phone, and in-person correspondence and coordinate and arrange events, meetings, appointments, and conferences.
Business development coordinators maintain positive relationships with current clients and simultaneously build new client relationships and generate new sales. They ensure existing clients are satisfied and that potential clients are interested in securing an organization's services. They communicate with potential clients to fully explain how their organization can benefit the client's business and address any hesitations. They use a combination of Internet research, professional networking connections, and referrals to identify and connect with potential clients. Business development coordinators need a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related fields and two-to-four years of professional experience.
