Things are a little "upside-down" at Johnson & Wales University, and that's just the way they like it. The private, not-for-profit, accredited institution provides what it calls an upside-down curriculum, allowing students to take courses in their major during the first year, so they learn right away if their career choice is right for them. At the end of two years of study, students earn an associate's degree and the opportunity to go on to earn a bachelor's degree. Founded in 1914, the school enrolls more than 16,000 students on four campuses in Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, and Rhode Island.
