What does a Dog Walker do?
Dog walkers are responsible for taking their client’s dogs on walks on a designated, regular schedule. They ensure the dogs get sufficient exercise and social interaction through walks, trips to the dog park, and other activities. They often also take dogs for routine grooming appointments and veterinary care. They frequently provide pet setting services, as well. Their primary responsibility is to maintain the animal’s safety and well-being, but they also provide companionship and socialization.
Dog walkers commonly have a background in animal care, veterinary support, or dog training. They must be animal lovers who are comfortable around dogs of all types, breeds, and sizes. These roles require the ability to remain calm and focused even under stressful conditions. Knowledge of animal care or veterinary basics is a plus.
