What does a Financial Professional do?

Financial professionals provide a broad range of financial services and advise and educate clients on a variety of money topics from life insurance to the stock market. They recommend products and services, and may assist with opening or managing accounts. They provide guidance for long-term future planning, assisting clients in areas such as retirement arrangements and investments. They often are expected to recommend particular products and services and may have sales or revenue goals to meet.

Financial professionals generally have a bachelor’s degree and a background in a financial role or a related field such as insurance or real estate. Excellent people skills are a must. These positions often require a variety of licenses, which could include a life insurance license or a Series 7 securities license. There are also an assortment of clearances and background checks routinely involved.

What responsibilities are common for Financial Professional jobs?
  • Serve as a supportive role model to the clients and peers.
  • Show sincere appreciation for each customers time and business.
  • Handle other services, such as stop payments, wire transfers, etc.
  • Engage with customers to resolve disputes, and account reconciliations.
  • Identify and implement automations to meet client and business needs.
  • Develop and achieve departmental budgets for all areas of responsibility.
  • Responsible for making sound decisions and timely problem resolution.
  • Finalize and apply to the costing after review and finalization in consultation with costing director/s.
  • Perform a broad range of tasks of varying complexity and scope.
  • Accurately perform customers' financial transactions by producing quality work.
  • Proactively reach out to customers to deepen relationships through needs-based conversations.
  • Foster and maintain positive client relationships to support the practice.
  • Direct members to the proper department or personnel when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date referral sources.
  • Create the core messaging and content for digital programs, field marketing, sales engagements, and channel marketing.
What are the typical qualifications for Financial Professional jobs?
  • Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in accounting, business, engineering or business administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong command of English language and good communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong leadership, time management, and critical thinking skills.
  • Comfortable making decisions and conducting business process analysis.
  • Can multitask and pay strict attention to details.
  • Demonstrated positive attitude and confidence on the job.
