What does a Group Manager do?

Group managers serve in a leadership role heading a team or division. They are responsible for a wide range of administrator-level tasks and oversee all aspects of daily operations. They develop strategic plans, take an active role in major operational decisions, and drive growth and development efforts. They recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff, and establish group policies and practices. They may also be accountable for sales and marketing initiatives, and expected to meet sales quotas.

Group managers typically have at least a bachelor’s degree in a business field. They have a background in sales or marketing, including roles in managerial positions. They must possess strong leadership qualities, have excellent communication skills, and have a passion for developing talent. Accounting and budgeting skills are also required.

  • Review reports for accuracy and make corrections as needed.
  • Support the design, development, delivery and management of communications.
  • Ensure alignment of activities to support business plans.
  • Engage in direct and consistent contact with participants.
  • Communicate and present findings to key stakeholders and management.
  • Create team leader development plans and coach the team members.
  • Identify and close team skills gaps through coaching and/or training.
  • Respond to client's questions and needs and lead meetings.
  • Ability to multitask and handle interruptions to support operators.
  • Care for and maintain facilities and equipment used by the group.
  • Manage safety, delivery, quality, and cost for assigned shifts/groups.
  • Lead a team responsible for extensions of credit to clients within a given segment or credit product type.
  • Act as an advisor to subordinate leads or staff members.
  • Responsible for the development and management of the production group.

  • Experience with MEP, SOX, Javascript, and Agile software and systems.
