What does an Inbound Sales Representative do?
Inbound sales representatives sell products and services to potential customers who usually initiate the inquiry by phone. They employ strategic questions to gather information from these sales-ready leads, and then use that information to tailor their sales pitch, highlighting benefits and features that would be most appealing or relevant to that individual. They also sometimes provide customer support, answering questions or connecting customers with other departments who can assist with their situation.
Inbound sales representatives generally have at least a high school diploma, along with experience in a sales or customer support role. They must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where they may be expected to meet sales quotas. Excellent communication skills are a must, along with proficiency using common office software programs.
- Ensure the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all inbound or outbound functions.
- Use web-based tools to stay current on industry-wide products, features, and services.
- Conduct employee training and development, monitors job and safety requirements.
- Work directly with associates to establish and foster a strong working relationship to support and enhance work performance.
- Maintain accurate records in data system, with detailed information on customer contacts.
- Route domestic inbound shipments to ensure least-cost transportation is used.
- Be receptive to receiving and applying any and all coaching or feedback given by the leadership team.
- Liaison with supply chain (Use Inbound visibility tools to expedite freight to the RDC).
- Perform intake of calls from members or providers regarding services via telephone, fax, EDI.
- Identify issues affecting customer satisfaction caused by operational issues and act as an important change agent to develop solutions.
- Bachelor's Degree in business, business administration or computer science.
- Experience with Vdi, Flash, scripting, DSL, and E-mail.
- Prior consulting experience.
- A multitasker and problem solver with confidence and a positive attitude.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and professionalism at all times.
- Comfortable onboarding clients and multitasking.
- Strict attention to detail and an eye for renewal opportunities.
