What does an Infrastructure Specialist do?
Infrastructure specialists assess, configure, and maintain technological infrastructure systems to ensure they meet an organization’s business needs. They evaluate existing systems and determine ways to better align those systems to support business operations for increased efficiency. They oversee the installation, integration, and maintenance of equipment and programs and provide ongoing tech support. They assist with developing an infrastructure plan that will continue to accommodate the organization’s future needs.
Infrastructure specialists typically have a bachelor’s degree in a computer science field, and a background in infrastructure services, tech support, cybersecurity, or related roles. They must have in-depth knowledge of infrastructure components and capabilities, and a good sense of how they relate to common business needs and operational demands. These roles require strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Direct, develop, and coach the IT team to achieve departmental goals.
- Mentor the IT team on security policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Create and maintain the security awareness training and assessment program.
- Manage contractors, third parties, cloud services providers, and other vendors.
- Continuously improve IT delivery and customer satisfaction by championing IT management frameworks.
- Manage and perform multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
- Lead cross-functional groups, sharing common opportunities and problems, to find common solutions.
- Oversee all reports and documentation related to infrastructure design, deployment, operations and support and manage resource libraries of technical information and solutions.
- Responsible for scoping and manage execution of large enterprise projects across multiple business and technical domain areas.
- Stay up-to-date on technologies, solutions, and architectures to optimize information technology functions.
- Ensure and build the controls and processes for continuous delivery of applications, considering all stages of the process and its automations.
- Advise senior management by identifying critical security issues. recommend risk-reduction solutions.
- Knowledge of how to deploy source code into running, scalable containers in automated fashion at enterprise scale.
- Define, establish and direct the change management, incident management, critical incident response, and other core IT processes.
- Launch projects through hands-on implementation, evaluate and drive improvements to existing infrastructure.
- Listen to a client's needs and formulate a technical roadmap and impactful solution that will support their ambitious business goals.
- Monitor and ensure that technical expectations of deliverables are consistently met on projects.
- Drawing from the latest technology standards that are pragmatic, cost-effective, and provide for high availability, this person will be responsible for enhancing user productivity by enabling a high Degree of collaboration among multiple locations of Composites One.
- Develop and coordinate strategic and tactical plans to guide the implementation and management of the service desk, end-use computing, enterprise server, storage, and network infrastructure.
- Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in architecture, civil engineering, computer science, engineering or information technology or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Cloud, Agile, IaaS, SaaS, DCHP, R Language, and UNIX software and systems.
- Fluent in business process analysis, writing protocols, network architecture, and fault isolation,
- Prior experience as a consultant.
- Demonstrated dedication to problem solving and operational excellence.
- Sound attention to detail.
- Is comfortable collaborating with others and running control centers.
- Can debug, siolate, and terminate issues.
- Is comfortable with interfacing.
- Middleware and IAT Level II experience.
