What does an Intelligence Officer do?

Intelligence officers provide an essential service for national defense by developing and executing plans, policies, and procedures that facilitate intelligence function; they are experts on intelligence disciplines and their applications across the spectrum of military operations. Intelligence officers specialize in one form of intelligence, including image signals or human intelligence. They use the information on potential threats to recommend the best tactical decisions for the situation at hand.

Intelligence officers brief and distribute intelligence summaries on world events and threat analysis, conduct inspections, and evaluate reports on safety standards and regulation checklists for companies. Intelligence officers need a four-year degree and to have completed classroom instruction and on-the-job learning in various training environments. They must complete a comprehensive training program covering responsibilities, military structure and etiquette, traditions, and leadership development.
