What does a Kitchen Designer do?
Kitchen designers create kitchens for their clients and consider factors including cabinets, flooring, countertops, and appliances that they desire. They turn to their skills to determine the client's project goals and prepare final plans alongside a timeline for the project and a budget. They ensure kitchens function, they’re convenient and comfortable and up to building codes. They design in residential and industrial kitchens including kitchens in restaurants, cafeterias, or hospitals.
Kitchen designers create kitchen blueprints based upon their intended usage and source and oversee independent contractors including a cabinet maker or a plumber. They must pay close water systems placement to ensure kitchen safety, and that plans detail the layout and appearance of all installations. They inform clients about appropriate care for a completed kitchen and keep a detailed record of hours and activities achieved to ensure correct billing. Kitchen designers need a high school diploma and prior experience as a kitchen designer. Some have a degree in interior design.
