What does a Locksmith do?
Locksmiths perform a range of tasks related to the installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of locks and security devices. These tasks include installing or repairing locks and related hardware, programming electronic security and access systems, and troubleshooting malfunctioning devices. They also respond to emergency calls of lockouts and create replacement keys. They prepare estimates, invoices, and other paperwork. They educate customers about the operation and maintenance of security systems.
Locksmiths have at least a high school diploma and have commonly completed a training program at a trade school or through an employer.
