What does an Operations Engineer do?
Operations engineers work in various industrial rules to ensure all processes and functions under their control perform correctly and efficiently. They work in the manufacturing and shipping industries and strive to meet factory and management specifications at their job. They are responsible for repairs and upgrades to machinery and coordinate with other department heads to fine-tune operations systems. They also routinely examine machinery for defects and communicate maintenance schedules to department heads.
Operations engineers are part of a team, and they interact with computer and software engineers, quality control specialists, and others to increase efficiency and establish best practices. They can train managers and other personnel to use new and upgraded machinery and be comfortable performing training. They identify operational priorities by assessing operational objectives and determine project objectives, including efficiency cost savings, energy conservation, time, and costs. Operations engineers need a minimum bachelor's degree in engineering or related fields.
- Responsible for cost, schedule and technical performance of assigned projects.
- Lead and participate in operations, outages, and safety meetings.
- Responsible for supporting internal applications and systems.
- Assist in the installation, racking, and cabling of equipment.
- Write code, complete programming and perform testing and debugging of applications.
- Assemble large equipment to include carts, racks, cabinets, chairs, shelving, hoods, etc.
- Assist with necessary changes to telephone system hardware and cabling.
- Ticket creation, adherence to customer sign-in and authentication procedures.
- Support various operations status, engineering review and problem boards.
- May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel.
- Prepare presentations for submission to customers and internal management.
- Assist in designing and maintain, hosting, process, transform, and analyze operational processes.
- Install and maintain a wide variety of mechanical equipment within the scope of the plant operations area.
- Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans.
- Involves movement between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work.
- Take appropriate actions on system alerts based on standard operating procedure.
- Perform data entry into the inventory system for all goods received.
- Consult with project teams to develop a solution design which is compliant with the architecture and standards of the company.
- Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in information technology, engineering, computer science or computer engineering, or associates Degree and equivalent experience.
- Experience with Linux, Python, Autosys, and UNIX software and systems.
- Experience with cloud software and systems.
- Demonstrated strength in computing and problem solving and sound attention to detail.

- Familiar with frameworks and command line processes.
- Comfortable interfacing with other team members and clients.
