What does a Quality Control Technician do?

QC analysts are responsible for establishing, implementing, overseeing, and enforcing quality control standards in a manufacturing or technical production environment. They are involved in all phases of the production lifecycle from evaluating raw materials to inspecting finished products to verify they meet target specifications. They may conduct testing, take measurements, or perform other assessments, which in some settings may include chemical analysis. They also establish quality control standards and evaluation protocol, and may implement automated testing or inspection processes.

QC analysts typically have at least a bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field, although advanced training or education is an asset. A background in quality control or roles involving enforcing and adhering to quality standards is preferred. These roles require highly organized specialists with meticulous attention to detail.
