I had a screening call with a recruiter that reached out to me via LinkedIn. And one of the questions asked was salary expectations. I basically said what is the salary range. And the range for the position was between $75,000-$95,000. I quickly turned it down because I did not want to take such a significant pay cut. However after getting off the phone with her. I went to Glassdoor to see typical salary range. Can you believe the salary for the role was between $145,000-$219,000. They tried it
I usually straight up say no and ask why the budget is lower than the typical range.
Like46Right. What happened to the big push with diversity, equity and inclusion. SMH. Pay the black girl less money because they will take anything. No thank you.
Like69Glassdoor is not accurate for salary data, so it’s pointless to use them for such. If the recruiter told you the salary, that’s what the employer is offering at this time. Payscale.com, Salary.com & the DOL provide more accurate salaries for roles.

Like27I applaud you for knowing your worth and turning down the position.
Like25This same thing happened to me for a freelance role. The second recruiter from a different agency basically told me double the rate the first guy gave me. I emailed him as well and sent the job description with the exact rate. He called me twice & blamed it on another recruiter. Same role double the rate.
