How do i phrase it on an interview why I'm leaving my current employer after only 4mos due to not being comfortable with the company ethics on how they handle some things? The only reason I am mentioning my current employer on my resume is I want to apply for the same position at a competitor I know is more ethical (confirmed by employees). I don't have much background in this position so I feel putting it down is important when I normally would not for positions held for less than 6 months.
Not sure. Maybe more about wanting to work at this new place than why you want to leave your current company. If you have done research about the new place you can talk about why they are so great and why you want to join them doing XYZ.
Like13You're looking to join a company who's values align more with yours. Then talk about the company that you're interviewing with and mention how their values resonate with you
Like25Good for you, let the new company know why you are so motivated to support and work for them. They will appreciate that you respect their ethics and products/services above their competitor. Well operated companies have high ethical standards, if they don't appreciate your honesty and candor move onto another company with products/services you believe in as well as their operations inc. ethical standards.
Like4Maybe something along, "After careful consideration with my current employer, I feel that any future employment needs will no longer being met." If they ask for more details a good follow up would be, " Their integrity along with my ethical understanding has created a bypass that can not be compromised. Due to confidentiality agreements, I cannot give anymore information on the subject." Every employer has you sign a confidentiality paper upon employment so Making a small statement without really diving into details isn't warranted but polite for future employers. Discretion is key for making a first impression ;)
Like5Don't complain and don't explain. Otherwise, YOU will be looked upon as a potential problem employee. Be very positive in regards to what you have learned from friends about the corporate culture of the new employer. Give details of what you learned and who praised the employer. (Have such interview notes, along with your resume, the job description and explanation of how you meet and exceed all key expectations, or how you will achieve items you don't presently meet.)
Like4Look for lighter reasons that are completely understandable and are not disparaging to your company. For example, if that job is in the office and your have a 45 min commute that you expected would be more manageabl, that is very understandable.
LikeThe biggest tip here is honesty. When you discuss the challenges dont frame it in a way that comes across you bagging out the place. Rehearse what you are going to say out loud. Thats if you get asked it. One strategy you can do is to bring it uo in the tell me about yourself. When you get to the current roles, what you like, how its helped prepare you for the next step which has landed you here today
