Just had an remote interview for a job in a company that has no reviews or news online and seems to be a part of a subsidiary of a company with one star review. On the remote interview, there was the hiring manager and a tech lead but none of them had the video camera on, only me (which made me feel quite uncomfortable). What do you think about it? Are those red flags? I don’t have a good feeling about it.
Trust your gut feelings.
Like9Yeah lots of red flags and this is definitely a trust your gut situation.
Like8I have had those experiences. Don’t get discouraged. Continue with the interview process. Ask a lot of questions to understand the culture, working style, communication style, expectations for the role, etc. Remember that they are also interviewing other candidates, that could be the reason for cameras being off. Or it could be just the company culture. In my previous work place, nobody would turn on the camera during the meetings, but it was a good work place. Make a judgement call based on the information and conversations you have with the hiring team. Good luck!
Like6Trust your gut for sure, but you can also play it out to see where it goes. Have a list of questions prepared if you have a second interview.
