Ok so on Thursday the 14th, I sent a thank you letter after a grueling 5part interview process. The recruiter replied that any updates would come “early next week” I didn’t hear anything so I sent another email requesting an update on Wednesday the 20th. Still no response, should I call next or just take a hint? Mainly I just want closure and feedback, I don’t think they would have kept me waiting this long if they were planning on giving me the job
You’ve done your part (interviewed, followed up severally, waiting). You can give them a week and a half, then follow up again. If you follow up now again, it sends a desperation signal, and they could either go for someone else or lowball you ☺️😉🙂
Like7Yes AGEISM IS A REAL #itch. I am a PA and have given my resume out at least 100 times. I may get an interview on occasion. or my favorite one is I did 20 years of Adult open surgery Also a biggie is to scope the vein as to leave less scaring. I can do that too. I sent a resume for a part time job, doing the same thing! the resume, answer came back in 15 seconds!! I continued to look. And sure enough, the ad was back. Sent my resume again. This time 👻’ed. I phoned HR and spoke to the person who saw my resume and asked why I was not hired. He hummed and hawed, and said I have more energy than he does (I do feel 21!) I get it, he was the first line of defense. I know I burned a bridge, but so what. I am going to pivot into research
Like3You didn't get the job. Sorry. There's a youtube channel called "Life after Layoff", and the man there has a complete video dedicated to exactly why recruiters do not provide feedback, and why they "ghost" you if you did not get the position. You should just move on. Also, and this is just my own advice from my own life experience -- if anything takes more than 2 interviews, let them know that they can ask you all they need to within 2 interviews. 3 is extreme. 4 is ridiculous. What on EARTH does a person need FIVE INTERVIEWS for? What could they possibly not have asked you on the 5th round that they couldn't ask you in the first two? Value your own time. Tell them if they absolutely must do a 3rd and 4th interview, that they can come to *YOUR* office, or at your job, and you can slot them in for 20 minutes of your time. Don't let people jerk you around like this.
Like5I would take the hint and move on you did what you could. If they wanted you they wouldn’t lead you on this much or cause any room for you to slip through the cracks for someone else to take you
Like6I would guess they have some kind of internal chaos that's keeping them from getting back to you (they don't sound very organized -- five interviews!). Or maybe you're the number-two candidate and the number-one needs extra time to decide. Or maybe the recruiter died. If I were you, I'd move on, and treat it as a nice surprise if they get back to you later.
