Why is it that every employer once extensive experience and at least a decent college degree like a bachelors as requirements for a position? But then, when they see that you’re older, they still go through the trouble of interviewing you, even though you can clearly see that you are treated with ageism . I just don’t understand mentality in today’s day and age when it comes to interviewing processes as I feel like I am 18 again .
First, they are interviewing you because they don't want to show bias and they want to give you the opportunity to showcase your skills and talents. Second, Any astute hiring manager or HR professional that looks at a resume can generally tell how old you are likely to be. It doesn't take rocket scientist to see that if you got your undergrad degree around 1994 that you are probably over 50. So the fact that they called you in for an interview means they ALREADY figured that into what they are looking for in a candidate. Problem is you went to an interview and you bombed it and now you are just looking for excuses why you are not being considered for the position....aside from performing poorly in the interview....it was to be your age....right?
