Pros
Financially Successful and growing. Raises and bonuses are great while other companies are cutting back or laying off staff Culture - people work together and pull together. There is a lot of work... but VSP is not a sweat shop. Employees are highly valued. Basically every one is friendly and helpful. Interesting and rewarding work. Work with new tech while providing a valuable service to communities Great 401k VSP puts in 10% if you do none. If you put in 5% they match which means VSP is putting in 15% Long tenured employees since it such a great place to work. Little turn over. Work remote/live where you want. VSP is fully remote with the option to go into the office if you prefer. Opportunity - high percentage of positions are filled internally via promotions . Career paths exist for those that want to pursue management. While those that want to stay/do tech there is a high end career path for that as well for those that become experts in their fields
Cons
Performance management is not as active as it should be. There are pockets in VSP where less than acceptable performance is allowed to continue. Although I listed work remote as a Pro, it can also be... a Con. There is not the social aspect of working with others in person. Walking over to some’s deck to ask a question. No catching up in the hallway or building relationships face to face That does not happen to the same degree via teams meetings. Too many priority efforts and needed critical work. There is a large back log of work and great ideas that can’t get done fast enough. - but that goes back to the company is busy because the company is growing.
