I worked at American Cancer Society full-time for more than a year
They understand that there's a very important mission that we need to stay on top of, period. Passionate staff & leadership; when there was an issue, it was investigated and resolved. They are... extremely congnizant of donor dollars. Great benefits.
As with every business, there are some sour apples but as long as you know and understand the reason ACS exists and believe in the mission, there are no cons. I had some challenges but because of my... experience and mission focus, I didn't let anything or anyone deter me from doing the best I could to help ACS beat cancer.
Advice to Management
Continue to listen to your staff who are on the phones and out in the community and allow them to be creative and not just stay status quo. Sometimes, if it ain't broke, break it. Great quote from... Gary Reedy on the Day of Understanding in early 2020 that ALL ACS staff need to adhere to is: DON’T judge me UNTIL you know me! DON’T underestimate me UNTIL you challenge me! DON’T talk about me UNTIL you talk with me! YOU may know my name BUT do you know my story?
