Current Employee - Manager

I have been working at Annaly Capital Management full-time for more than a year

Pros

- Sophisticated firm that is transforming the mREIT industry - satisfying to be a part of - Relatively small staff size, so everyone counts. Exposure to all levels of management and staff and a... range of business areas and work projects - Leadership with vision - Talented, collaborative, accountable colleagues who all pitch in - Excellent benefits - health care, subsidized lunch, generous maternity/paternity leave, emergency child care etc

Cons

As you woud expect in finance, you're expected to work hard and perform at a high level at all times

Advice to Management

Continue the various programs to support and develop staff. It's appreciated.

Current Employee - Anonymous

I have been working at Optima full-time for less than a year

Pros

Very clear from day 1 that people live the company's beliefs. Being bold but with empathy, working hard to do the right thing (even when it's hard) and the notion that there is a solution to every... problem clearly drive the business and are part of the dialogue every day. Optima is driven by a good rhythm of KPIs and professional development conversations while keeping it simple so work is a focus vs. measurement. It's what you'd expect from a hard-driving, results-oriented company in the loop but up on the Northshore so if you're done with the commute to the city, this culture fits the active worker.

Cons

The Glencoe office is a thing of beauty, but we're running out of space.

Advice to Management

Keep it going, keep a focus on beliefs and KPIs, and keep sharing the goals and initiatives of the business.
