I have been working at Apogee Enterprises full-time for less than a year

Pros

Great culture and values along with all sorts of perks and benefits. The ESPP and 401(K) are great, there is tuition reimbursement, decent PTO, great medical, dental, LTD/STD, etc. The benefits are... some of the best in the region. There is good mobility within the company and its business units, and positions are advertised internally before they go external. Bonuses are quite good.

Cons

There are some communications and cooperation issue between departments and teams. It's not bad, but it's far from perfect. Salary increases within the same job title can be disappointing. Quality... of managers does very between departments, so not everyone will wind up happy.

Advice to Management

Keep ensuring that teams and departments don't become silos.

I have been working at Baltimore Aircoil full-time

Pros

Great place to work with fantastic people. I worked at BAC for 15 years. Ironically, I left BAC (due to what I thought was a better career opportunity and not any dissatisfaction with BAC) for... about 6 months. During my absence it became clear to me how great a company BAC is and it did not take long to regret my leaving. I reached out to BAC and with BAC recognizing that I was a valuable employee and myself realizing that "the grass is not always greener", I returned. BAC tailored my new role based on discussions of my interests, strengths and job satisfaction. (as a P.S., multiple employees have either returned or expressed to me their regret of leaving BAC.) While a large enough company for job stability, BAC still has a small company feel with employees working together and providing help and support when needed. BAC offers great benefits (better than the industry standards), especially the ESOP plan. This allows individuals to own a piece of the company (BAC is employee owned). The ESOP lets everyone strive to contribute to the overall success of the organization, while providing a fantastic retirement savings opportunity. Finally, the best thing about BAC is the people. During my time away from BAC, I realized that one of the most important aspects of job satisfaction is who you work with and the relationships you have with your co-workers.

Cons

None - Honestly, I am convinced that some of these other reviews were mistakenly written about BAC, as they seem to be written about an entirely different company.

Advice to Management

Continue to understand the interests and strengths of current employees and give employees the opportunities to prove themselves by giving them more responsibility and chances for success
