Current Employee - Retail Manager

Pros

The opportunity to grow a career is as far as your ambition takes you, learning profit and loss in retail, controlling expenses, associate training follow up and accountability. Perfect hands-on... training to a business major. It's a people business, learn your people's strengths, learn your communities needs, respond and plan ahead to meet demand and you can stay ahead.

Cons

Just like any business, it will demand as much as you aspire to invest to grow it and to run it. If you lack the skills to teach, train, delegate and follow up, it will take from your personal time... to either finesse these skills or do all the work yourself. It's a people business, if you don't invest in knowing the staff you have, and just allow the business to set the pace, it will run you instead of you running it.
