Former Contractor - Senior Systems Analyst

I worked at Austin Energy for more than 3 years

Pros

The City of Austin, which Austin Energy is part of, is one of the most progressive municipal employers in the country. Good pay, benefits, and cultural awareness are part and parcel. The main office... is beautifully located on Barton Springs not far from Zilker Park. Some of the nicest people I’ve ever worked with.

Cons

If you know what you are getting into working for a municipal government agency, then the cons are the usual culprits. It’s a political environment, to say the least. Promotions are few and far... between for some people. Otherwise, you’ll have to prove your value and move around within the company. If you can rise above it all, then you’ll be rewarded with a solid career and employer.

Advice to Management

Keep the lights on and be nice to one another. Austin is a great place to live and work and Austin Energy plays a central role in people’s quality of life. I understand it can be difficult juggling... all the priorities but y’all have a great team.

Current Employee - Workforce Management Analyst

I have been working at CoServ Electric full-time for more than a year

Pros

Benefits and culture. CoServ is the only place I know of that still offers a pension.

Cons

Location - I had to relocate from Austin when I accepted the position at CoServ. The schools and housing prices in the area are not good.

Advice to Management

I've worked at several companies big and small, and CoServ is the best in terms of overall compensation.
