What Employees Say
I worked at Baker McKenzie full-time for more than 8 years
Lawyers are very entrepreneurial and always looking for new ideas and ways of working so work can be very interesting. Everyone is professional, friendly and approachable. They really believe in... their "culture of friendship."
Work can sometimes become overly administrative and too many reports but I think that is mostly due to the fact that the firm is so large and there are so many initiatives from all over the world... from different practices and groups within the firm. Can be challenging to get promoted.
I worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer part-time for less than a year
Interning at Freshfields at a very early stage of my legal career was truly an all-inclusive experience. Work-wise, I got the opportunity to get involved in several technical tasks within a wide... range of case situations. I was sat with the Corporate Teeam. I was excited to get involved in the team's efforts, even if my contribution was, needless to say, of minor importance. I got acquainted with several high-profile and inspiring individuals, got to attend conference calls and get insights on cases which the firm handles. All employees were friendly, and got some useful guidance by having lunch with trainees who had just been in my place.
The only downside I could think of would be that, despite being allocated work tasks, these were of a minor nature and did not have the opportunity to do any drafting of documents. I only handled... research-based and proofreading assignments.
