Former Employee - Healthcare Supply Chain Consultant

I worked at Baton Rouge General full-time

Pros

Friendly staff from all departments

Cons

Central supply expectations are high and the higher the job title, the less work they do. At North Oaks, we worked as a team to get the job done.

Advice to Management

Central Supply management should help pull carts and stock inventory in central, they just sit at the computer and key charges all day, when it doesn’t take all day to key them. They should hire 3... people at night instead of 2. It’s hard for only 2 people to run central, one person is doing floors, the other person is answering calls, filling orders from the printer, printing labels to stick on supplies before putting on shelf. They also need a bigger space for centrals supplies and carts. If they would remove the paper orders from er and labor and delivery, and just make blue button labels, it would cut the time in half . You pay for the PAR system, so use it. They will help you set up blue labels for ER, L&D, Nicu and other paper ordered supplies. This is an old method that wouldn’t cost much to re-do. With the blue labels, you can click the button and tell how many of each product needs to be brought back, instead of flipping pages and digging to find items that are not in order on the paperwork.
