Former Employee - Retail Sales Associate

I worked at Bershka full-time for less than a year

Pros

This job had a great pay at $15 an hour plus commission. You also have the option for health insurance.

Cons

The workload is not evenly distributed and managers only choose certain people to call out for not working hard enough. While the work may seem simple enough, it proved to be incredibly strenuous.... Especially if you are working a ten hour shift. For this reason, it is imperative that everyone pulls their weight or the job becomes unbearable. There was one coworker who bragged about taking twenty minute bathroom breaks. This causes the whole system to run off the rails (especially for the people working the dressing room or running). Your life is also consumed by the job. I had no free time. You can ask for certain days off but you have to choose which manager to ask very carefully. There were some managers who displayed an atitude when I’d ask for time off (even though I was working most of the week and doing very long shifts). And the one time I didn’t answer my phone on a day off, I was called out for it in front of people. Overall, I just didn’t like the attitude that some of the managers displayed.

Advice to Management

Please run a tight ship. Don’t let certain people off the hook for a lack of work ethic. This causes your hardworking employees distress.
