Former Intern - Private Equity Analyst

I worked at Blackmore Partners for less than a year

Pros

First and foremost, you WILL get a proper private equity experience here. Blackmore is a great start to a career in the financial services industry, specifically, M&A related fields. You will... get to assist in the entire deal process. There will be many deals you will work on. Some will go further than others, but the industry and company analysis is abundant. I will also address past reviews. This is NOT a sales job. You will NOT be making cold calls, EVER. You absolutely get what you put in. If you want to learn financial modeling, you will have the opportunity to do so. If you want exposure to the world of PE, this is a great start. This is the kind of internship that takes self-discipline and will be a great test to yourself in deciding whether this is the right industry for you.

Cons

The internship is unpaid - Yes, that complicates things, but the experience on your resume will account for this, and if you work hard and really learn the industry, you will be well prepared for... future endeavors. The office is not a 5 star hotel - However, it's a legitimate office and is a calm place to work, not to mention it's only about 100 yards from the train (nice for the Chicago winters).

Advice to Management

Continue to push interns towards the private equity side of the business. This is an area that is quickly growing and those comming in to do Business Development and/or M&A want to help grow this... side of Blackmore.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Sorenson Capital Partners full-time for more than a year

Pros

Overall, an absolutely awesome place to work. Fantastic culture driven by great tone-setting/messaging from the top; friendly, supportive colleagues; and great office-wide community building... including daily catered lunch and quarterly office events. Overall, office has a very tight-knit feel and people are friends outside of work. Very intelligent and talented colleagues across the organization which manifests itself through great results and a strong reputation. SLC has great cost of living, is fantastic for outdoor recreation, and is conveniently-located for personal and work travel across the USA. There's also a booming tech / startup scene which is making the city increasingly vibrant / diverse and spurring a lot of investment in infrastructure, entertainment, etc. Great place to live!

Cons

Traffic to/from Lehi can sometimes be bad if commuting to/from SLC.

Advice to Management

N/A - keep doing what you're doing!
