Current Employee - Senior Manager

I have been working at Building & Construction Authority full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

good staff benefits, salary at ok level. scholars and hi pots will take much of the ECAs, secy and committees work, routine work is manageable.

Cons

top heavy structure, weak middle management layer, snakes can get by and promote easily.

Advice to Management

be more selective on who you hire and promote. not everyone who takes on work blindly and not all yes men are good dept heads

Current Contractor - Contractor

I have been working at Singapore Land Authority for less than a year

Pros

No pros to think of... Maybe the aircon in the office?

Cons

Entire agency tries to avoid public interactions or any type of actual work or assistance as much as possible. Respond to public inquiries with the most useless information copied from a shortlist of... pre-written answers. An extremely heavy red-tape machine that makes no sense and never tries to be helpful to the public, contractors or anyone they encounter that needs their cooperation. The whole 'board of directors' are just title collectors who are completely unrelated and uninvolved with anything at SLA. Probably the highest employees turnover in any government department in Singapore.

Advice to Management

Fire yourself. Really. Can't blame the pencil pushers when you're the one setting the tone. Over 70% of vacant government-owned and SLA managed properties stand empty and unable to rent out, for... no reason. OVERHAUL YOUR SYSTEM!
