Current Contractor - Database Administrator

I have been working at City of Houston

Pros

it is very good work place

Cons

I did not see any disadvantage in working here

Senior Program/Project Manager

I worked at City of Houston IT Dept

Pros

Excellent technical capabilities. Very good work space Large department of 200 + a federated model to outside departments Some excellent management

Cons

To many major projects and not enough resources The PMO Office is still young, undermanned and needs an A/D and admin.specialists The CIO is Visionary however doesn't share that across the... department There are many internal department and external silos that need to come down. The federated model may need revamping or better direction.

Advice to Management

It's all about attitude. The management needs to let the business goals and frontline folks vet out processes and services and then work wit IT to apply the technology. To many departments and... division don't get that choice. Back to basics !!!
