Current Employee - Staff Attorney

I have been working at Commonwealth of Virginia full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

Benefits are good, especially for starting employees. Great place to learm

Cons

Little upward mobility because there are limited top level jobs in the state employment structure

Group Supervisor

I worked at Nevada Department of Health & Human Services

Pros

Clean work environment Very interesting work to be directly involved with making a positive influence on a young mans life Professional, caring staff Elko has a great small town atmosphere

Cons

Some potential for physical confrontation Alternating shifts Regular exposure to extreme weather conditions of the high desert Night shifts are done alone except for occasional supervisor checks.... The solitude can be very boring

Advice to Management

I would advise that new group supervisors not be placed in unsupervised contact with the youth until they have completed the"Handle with care "training"
