Current Employee - Human Resource Generalist

I have been working at East West Bank full-time for less than a year

I've worked for smaller companies in the past for many years. This is the first job I've had that truly cares for employee wellness and work-life balance. I think management is critical in... determining how likely an employee is to stay or enjoy their working environment, and I was blessed with a very kind, patient, and experienced manager. Bank offers a lot of incentives outside of insurance and 401k, such as free Yoga/Zumba/Bootcamp courses every week, bringing Panda Express as an alternative on Wednesdays, amongst many other events and goodies that we get to partake in. I also love how much they emphasize on company culture, as this is something that is very important to me in determining how well I will fit into and enjoy working for a company. Corporate life may not be for everyone, but it is the right fit for me and I am so glad to be a part of EWB family!!

No cons I was able to think of for my experience here so far.

Current Employee - Senior Software Engineer

I have been working at Silicon Valley Bank full-time for more than 3 years

SVB is a huge growth company that still has a hometown feel. I work with the greatest team in IT Product Development. My team lead and manager are supportive and encourage me to take training to... learn as much as I can to be successful. I am working on project that is being implemented 2 years later than planned. I know that without the management changes at the top of the IT org, we would still be debating requirements.

Sometimes the hometown feel means we take too long to make decisions and worry about hurting peoples feelings. We need to keep in mind our value to speak with integrity even when the message is... difficult. That how we will get the great results.

Advice to Management

With recent comms about location strategy people in CA are nervous. Please don’t close down office in CA. Silicon Valley Bank should have engineers from Silicon Valley!
