ConsenSys is focused on solving real-world problems using the most powerful blockchain that's out there. The organization is full of talented smart people who believe in the decentralized vision.... Blockchain itself is a volatile industry and because of that there were some inevitable ups and downs. ConsenSys is still one of the most legit blockchain entities out there backed by the co-founder of Ethereum. It the perfect place for anyone who wants to take a risk to be part of a big movement. It's a young company learning from it's mistakes and there is significant opportunity for those who are disciplined, hardworking and proactive. The key to success at any startup (not just ConsenSys) is to embrace the vision and work hard to contribute to its success.
Same issues as any other young startup. The company is recovering from the negative publicity that stemmed from 2018 layoffs. HR processes are still a bit immature which can sometimes overcast the... great work being done here. Look at ConsenSys's Glassdoor review history. It was a 4.5/5 right before the layoffs which is way more reflective of its true culture.
Advice to Management
Hire high caliber people with strong backgrounds (i.e., consulting, finance, established tech companies) who are self-motivated and disciplined. Don't make headlines with layoffs again - it gets in... the way of attracting good candidates. Focus on building good products and monetizing them. If runway is an issue, launch an exchange platform like Coinbase to fuel the funding of other projects.
