I worked at Fort Worth Police Department full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Good salary and benefits, great coworkers, job security, modern equipment and the best police training available.

Cons

Too many outdated General Orders, too few officers for such a large city, too many supervisors having inappropriate relationships with their subordinates.

Advice to Management

Get rid of the RMS report system...it's wasting time and money. Let officers go back to calling in their reports.

Big department, big opportunity to move around to specialized units with better pay and some of the best training in the nation.

Cons

Big department, bigger issues, more national spotlight when mistakes are made, and more call load.
