I have been working at FrontRange Solutions full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

I work out of the Colorado Springs, CO office and the people I work with here are amazing professionals. I love coming to work every day. We just moved to a new office with a new lease so the company... is committed to maintaining our presence in CO. Company has an official standardized yearly performance review process with tied salary compensation. Company has competitive salaries based on industry and market levels. Facilities are nice and has nice perks like an expresso/latte machine. There are monthly social events and overall a friendly environment. Leadership has taken many steps over the past several years to both develop good market strategies as well as listen to both customer and employee feedback. Most employees are salaried so there is overall great personal freedom around schedules and time off. They have great benefits: health, dental, vision, pre-tax contributions, 401k, gym membership discounts, some tuition reimbursement. Company and leadership have a good employee recognition program.

Cons

Overall office and company culture is a work in progress globally but seems to be moving in a good direction. Tenure ship at the company is very high so room for advancement can be limited in some... areas as people do not leave, that is overall a good thing for companies and teams but can limit personal advancement opportunities. Company sales have been picking up so hope that will lead to additional head count and therefore more opportunities. Training opportunities outside of your immediate job requirements can be limited so you somewhat have to own that for yourself and not wait for management to provide it to you.

Advice to Management

Continue the proactive communication to employees around company strategy and vision. Ensure all business units organizational goals formally align with the company strategy and can be measured.

I have been working at Cherwell Software full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Cherwell is really a great place to work. Here are a few reasons why: - Culture: I work with people all across the country (and developers in Scotland!) who all are very talented, offer diverse... perspectives, and bring out the best in you. Communication is easy, and trust is high. And this is experience is consistent both within and outside my R&D department. - Flexibility/Benefits: We have a good remote work policy that even allows employees who live near HQ to work from home. There is a flexible PTO policy that doesn't put a cap on vacation - and there is no stigma around taking time off. The other benefits (health, 401k, etc) are comparable to other tech companies in the area. - Tech: Cherwell has a unique product and a seemingly limitless potential for new projects and innovation. As with any product, there is room for improvement. But as an engineer, this kind of thing excites me. On a given day I can find myself working on anything from websockets to machine learning algorithms. Overall, the people are wonderful and the work is exciting. There isn't much more I can ask for.

Cons

As with any company, there seems to be a loud vocal minority who either complain about trivial issues or irrational misconceptions. Much of the negativity in the reviews seem to think that management... is out to get them and destroy their work-life balance. This is irrational and untrue. When you take a step back and compare Cherwell to other similar tech companies the stats bear out that we have one of the lowest voluntary employee attrition rates. This is a testament to the great culture and perks. The anonymous surveys also point to how the majority of employees love working here and think the CEO, Sam, is doing a fine job. Let the numbers do the talking instead of the vocal minority.
