I worked at Hypertherm full-time for more than 5 years


Hypertherm is the leader in it’s industry, and seeing how a company of this magnitude and quality operates is an experience in and of itself. I particularly enjoyed working with fellow associates... who share the same ambition, drive, and enthusiasm to succeed as I do.


Wide variances in priorities that leaders on different teams place on associate development. This can result in decreased engagement, loss of morale, and increased turnover of highly talented... individuals.

Advice to Management

Ensure everyone has a fair shot when applying to internal positions. There were numerous times where a position would open up for internal associates only, and interviews would start. Everything... seems normal in that most who apply get an interview, but at the same time it seems that most of the internal positions that open up are already spoken for but the company has to give off the appearance of conducting a fair and equal opportunity selection process when in fact a favorite or ideal candidate might be identified by those with the power to approve hiring decisions before the internal position even opens up. It is almost as if this is just an extension of another associate’s Career Development Plan, and only one specific person ever had a chance at getting the position.

I worked at ICON Aircraft full-time for less than a year


I was one of two Supplier Quality Engineers, my role was the Vacaville plant SQE, the other, tijuana SQE. There was tons of opportunities for me to help ICON overcome some tough challenges and... growing pains that every company goes through. Lots of smart people. If you like flying you will be in heaven


The management at the time did not have the wisdom or the knowledge of typical quality systems mgmt. Was faced with the ultimatum of either follow the "icon way" or stick to my ethics/follow ASTM... regs the right thing. I chose the way any good Quality Eng woukd do and was fired.

Advice to Management

Dont hire somebody to figure out why there arw so many issues and then take it personal when they are candid with you and identify most of the issues are internal... Sometimes you need to face the... fact that your operation needs an overhaul. I didnt need the job, i left a high paying, secure position at a great company, took a 20k paycut, doubled my commute from 50mi to 100mi and was willing to work day and night while not getting paid for overtime, all because I wanted to help ICON be successful. There are lots of people there in similar situations but give in to cutting corners bc they dont want to lose their job Stop firing people for speaking up. Its because THEY CARE
