Former Intern - Vibro-Acoustics Analyst

I worked at Kennedy Space Center/ Cape Canaveral AF Station for less than a year

Pros

worked at Kennedy Space Center in Launch Services Program. Absolutely loved this group - they made me feel welcome from day 1. No expectations for me; they wanted to see how I performed when given... responsibilities. I could do as much as I wanted, and I wanted to do a lot to impress the people there. Positive people all around. Had to move for personal reasons, but I'd stay there if I could. Amazing to be able to see the launches. Beach is nice too.

Cons

For the internship, it would be nice to have flexibility to move departments. I heard this was possible for some, but it's not commonplace.

Advice to Management

Intern managers - If possible, try to change the format to encourage interns to move departments. Could boost the retention rates.

Former Intern - Systems Safety Engineering

I worked at NASA Glenn Research Center for less than a year

Pros

GRC is home to some of the brightest minds the US has to offer. Plus, they work on extremely important projects such as the lunar Gateway platform and other related missions.

Cons

You are working for the government, so you are influenced by the whims of politics.
