Former Employee - Architectural Designer

I worked at Kohn Pedersen Fox full-time for more than a year

Pros

Exposure to some of the worlds most complex and exciting project, a firm and colleagues that have high standards for design but also standard proceeding procedures (it's definitely an amazing place... to get "trained"), for such a large office it's very nice to see how much emphasis is placed on design during concept and schematic phases.

Cons

A bit too top heavy in terms of leadership and responsibility. Would be awesome to see more trust and investment placed in skilled younger architects to push innovation and creativity from all sides.... Different project teams operate very differently, and so an experience under one principal can be entirely different that that under another.

Advice to Management

Invest in entrepreneurial mindset within all teams and all levels. Train senior directors and design PM's on best practices on project management and team leadership.
