I have been working at Mattermark full-time for more than a year

Pros

The people I work with are intelligent, diverse, creative, compassionate, friendly, and driven. I feel like we make real progress on our objectives on a weekly basis. Modernization of tooling (Docker..., Mesos, Elasticbeanstalk) has made it much easier to be an effective engineer.

Cons

The office can be a loud place to work. There are not enough restrooms to accommodate everyone at peak times.

Advice to Management

Continue to keep the hiring bar high.

I have been working at Crunchbase full-time for less than a year

Pros

TLDR - I was very skeptical of joining a "spin out" but am lucky to have stumbled on this gem of a company. The product, brand and culture are all healthy. Come sell some Crunchbase! Diversity... & Culture - There's always room for improvement in this area across specific levels/teams. But I was surprised to see a healthy balance and continued focus for the company to have a wide range of representation. Also, I'm sure there are groups of people from the same past employer, school or "clique", but it's hard to tell because everyone treats one another with respect. We are far from the typical "Tech Bro" / "Elitist" culture and hope it stays that way. Leadership - This is the best Executive Team I've seen since my last acquisition... and it's been awhile. They still enjoy happy hour with the new hires, care about employee happiness, present their board deck to the company (with the good, bad and runway) and are equally talented across functions. Their teamwork sets the tone for the rest of the organization and aren’t only Engineering or Sales driven, they look at all the data and make decisions quickly. Sales Management - Wow. Past managers I've worked with really like dropping buzz words on how they plan to adapt to the task at hand, but what's most critical is speed and execution. The management team literally "attacked" and went on offense during COVID-19. They created bonuses/incentives to motivate the team to rise to the occasion, invested in enablement tools/training and pivoted resources/lead flow. This happened so quickly that we saw an increase in productivity, pipeline and even exceeded our Q2 Target. It feels like they did everything they could to make sure everyone who was here before the Pandemic, would be here after it. Incredible time to be part of the team as each manager’s unique personality and skills compliment each other very well. Sales Team - The opportunity to crush it as a new AE is still here because the tenured reps don't hoard leads/accounts. We get a healthy amount of inbounds and the SDR pairing is almost 1 to 1, so pipeline is good.

Cons

Been a dream so far... Hope it lasts.
