Pros

Stephanie's Discount Depot has the opportunity to be a standout in the Peoria area secondary retail market. They have a great retail location on a prime traffic corridor, and an established online... division. Their initial branding concept was fresh and if developed properly, could result in Stephanie's Discount Depot being an attraction, not only to the local community, but to outside visitors to the Peoria area as well.

Cons

There is no executive committee in this organization. All business decisions and planning are made by one person exclusively, without taking any direction from the executive staff. Sometimes, these... descisions are unknowingly detrimental to the long term growth of the organization. However, any attempt to comment on or direct decision making by the executive staff are met with a contemptive and defensive posture.

Advice to Management

The management of this organization needs to learn to take direction from their executive staff. When the executive staff has more experience and working knowledge of the industry than the C-Level... directorship, as well as a greater understanding of the local market; it pays to come together as an executive committee to make sound business descisions. Unfortunately, since that doesn't occur, this organization makes some of the worse business decisions I have seen in fourteen years of corporate consulting and executive management experience.
