What Employees Say
I worked at McKinley, Inc. full-time for more than 3 years
A breath of fresh air from all of the stale, intellectually void property management companies out there. It was nice to finally work somewhere where they valued intelligence and compensated... employees properly for the responsibility that comes with managing multi-million dollar assets. I took great pride working for a company that had such high expectations and backed them up. The work-life balance was great, leadership provided support from the Regional Directors up to executive management, and managers were allowed to think creatively and solve problems rather than just regurgitate nonsensical corporate policies.
The decreased scope of geographical concentration meant my property was sold.
Advice to Management
Don't listen to the foolish reviews from people on this site content to live among the mediocre mouthbreathers of the property management industry. You have great people in place so keep encouraging... them and allowing them to thrive. The culture, values, and compensation provided are all wonderful.
I have been working at H.G. Fenton for less than a year
This is a long overdue review but I feel that I owe it to the employees that make this company an amazing place work and to the leaders of H.G. Fenton that created a culture and environment that make... better happier employee’s who want to go to work not just because have to. I temped for H.G. Fenton’s corporate office in Mission Valley and different properties they own in San Diego and Carlsbad for about 8 months. I could go on and on but I know that where you work impacts your work/life balance so I will give you a perspective from an outsider who has lots of experience with companies who write catchy slogans and call it a mission statement and put a few colorful words and call it their culture then ask you to work while you are vacation, not that these were bad companies they just haven’t figured out to be the best you have to have a TEAM of people and give them room to sore! What I believe the company pros are; Every person I worked with I would consider them to be A+ employees; Hardworking, loyal, good at the job they performed and above all kind and truly caring. It is not easy to get a job at H.G. Fenton for a reason; they have seasoned recruiters that work relentlessly to find the best talent. I worked next to the talent scouts and was amazed and intrigued by their hiring process. They are organized and work as a team, no one turns anyone away that needs help. I knew I could walk into any of their properties even if I have never been there before and know exactly what to do and if I had questions any one I asked would take the time to make sure I had everything I needed. This is a customer service driven company so if you are not one to give %110 it may not be the place for you. A good reason to work at their corporate office is its bright and cheery and the upbeat vibe is contagious. Even better they have not only a stocked frig that includes all kinds of great drinks even some of my favorite healthy drinks but they also have a team of people (I forgot what they are called) but their job is to make your day more enjoyable, they put out snacks daily, plan events and even brought me a heater because the office I worked in was cold. I was a temp so I have no idea about their benefit package but I do know they have amazing perks like at their corporate office employees get the week off during the Holidays that is not counted as their vacation time WOW!
Ok now for the things I thought were cons; No place is perfect! They had vendors over the holidays bring in every irresistible treat you could think of so you have to buy bigger pants for the... holidays! Not really a con but suggestion, if someone reads this from the company I wish H.G. Fenton would branch out and sell services to other companies and teach them how to mirror what you and your employees created, I would love everyone that wants to experience real work/life(to live) balance.
Advice to Management
You rock! To me a sign of a healthy company is happy employees. I was only temping for you but your culture even made a impact on me, after temping for you I wasn't going to settle for a company... that didn't have high standards and appreciate the hard work I do!
