Current Employee - Firefighter/EMT

I have been working at Milan Area Fire Department part-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Helping my community by providing a rewarding, exciting, and challenging opportunity. The brotherhood and comradery that comes from working in public service is immeasurable.

Cons

The single greatest fallback to the Milan Area Fire Department is simply that it is not a Full-Time job. Between small town politics, and simple economics, it is difficult to convince citizens of the... increased benefits of a full-time fire department, especially when the MAFD already performs at such a high level.

Advice to Management

The command staff at the Milan Area Fire Department are skilled, effective, and very personable. My advice to the MAFD is to maintain their professional integrity while continuing to be the close... family we have all created.
